Nash,
Do you foresee any post trade deadline moves happening that might make a difference to us fantasy owners down the stretch?
Jeff in KC for __who knows how much longer___
Hahaha, I like what you did there…very clever…
And well, it really is tough to say “in a vacuum” as they say. I really cannot express enough that it really depends on where your team is in the standings, what categories you can make up ground in and if the other teams in your keep/slow/speed up their pace.
Now, on to these magic players than can help you capture fantasy gold!
I have always liked Jeff Francoeur, probably just because he is a GREAT clubhouse guy and buys fans bacon.
So any chance I get to talk about him, I’ll usually take it. However there is ABSOLUTELY no reason the Royals shouldn’t trade this fella. He is set to make WAY too much money, he has NOT been hitting well and he is only taking away at bats from future studs like Wil Meyers and Lorenzo Cain. If Francoeur can find his swing again he might be able to help your fantasy squad as he is a guy that can hit for some power and steal some bases.
Jed Lowrie would be a nice addition to a lineup that would hit him in. Houston has pretty much sold anything of value to this point so why wouldn’t they give up Lowrie? If Lowrie could end up on a team like say the Oakland A’s, he MIGHT be a sneaky pick up once he returns from the DL and proves to be healthy. However you may only get one month of stats from this guy so hopefully he isn’t your only hope at middle infield.
Alfonso Soriano is a guy that we know can hit late in the season. He has WAY too much money on his contract so Chicago will need to eat a huge chunk of salary, but the Cubs are unlikely to want to carry his baggage to the winter meetings. Soriano would be a nice pick up if you need a power bat and can sacrifice a little batting average. Possible landing spots would make a bit of a difference for this guy as he could end up in a hitter friendly park like in Cincinnati for a contending team. It could be the right combination to spark his bat for the final 2 months.
I hope at least one of these guys makes me sound like a baseball prophet!
